Fresh Approach is a nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization.

The mission of Fresh Approach is to encourage healthier children, families and communities through community education, innovative programming and novel partnerships that promote a stronger local food system and better-informed choices about food and nutrition.

Founded in 2008, Fresh Approach works in close partnership with the Pacific Coast Farmers' Market Association to conduct educational outreach and programs in Bay Area communties.

We operate cooking demonstrations at farmers' markets, schools, libraries, health fairs, social service agencies, and just about anywhere else! Our market chefs teach participants how to select fresh, seasonal produce to prepare healthy, delicious recipes. We conduct interactive education through field trips to farmers' markets and in-school cooking classes. Starting in the spring of 2009, we will lead farm tours that connect Bay Area communities with the farmers who grow their fresh produce.

Our innovative programming brings documentary films that explore contemporary food security issues to locations such as libraries, hospitals, and farmers' markets, where participants have the opportunity to hear from local elected officials and nonprofit groups working to improve access to healthy food in their communities.

We create novel partnerships with organizations and community groups to promote healthy eating. We partner with local farmers' markets, schools, and nonprofits who share our goals.
