Operation Frontline Fresh Approach and the Pacific Coast Farmers' Market Association are partnering to bring this unique, hands-on cooking and nutrition education program to the Bay Area. Operation Frontline classes are taught by volunteer chefs and nutritionists, who lend their expertise to help low-income families learn to prepare healthy meals on a budget. Classes are available for adults, teens, kids, families, pregnant and parenting teens, childcare providers, and people living with HIV/AIDS and their caregivers. To learn more about Operation Frontline, please visit us at www.oflsanfranscisco.com
SNAP Outreach Fresh Approach is working with local farmers' markets throughout the Bay Area to attract SNAP (food stamp) participants to markets. In Solano County, Fresh Approach piloted a program to give $5 incentives to food stamp customers who spent at least $10 at farmers' markets. Fresh Approach intends to expand this program to Contra Costa and Alameda counties starting in May, 2010. Farm Tours In the spring of 2009, Fresh Approach will relaunch its series of farm tours that take Bay Area residents to farms in surrounding communities. Tours include three different farms, and lunch will be served at the second farm by our market chefs. Watch this site for more information.
